"a collective of incredible young musicians with a refreshingly energetic take on performance"
Sydney Camerata was formed in 2008 by Artistic Director Mathisha Panagoda.

Our musicians are young, energetic and passionate about performance. Being graduates of Australia's best music institutions, they are equally as qualified as they are enthusiastic about making music.

The organisation was formed with the intent to provide performance opportunities for Australia's emerging talented musicians and composers. Within seven years we have celebrated many of our musicians winning full-time jobs with Australia's major orchestras and others leading successful freelance careers both locally and internationally.

Our first performance was at the Seymour Centre as part of the Verge Arts Festival and we have since gone on to perform throughout Sydney, regional New South Wales, Queensland and overseas in Papua New Guinea. In 2010 we won the prestigious Musica Viva Award for Chamber Music and in 2012 our string quartet were Musica Viva's 'Rising Stars'. Since 2014 we have enjoyed regular collaborations with ensembles including Il Divo, the Sydney Chamber Choir and Bel A Cappella.

We aim to break down barriers in classical music, encourage new audiences, commission new Australian music and collaborate across all genres.

We invite you to join us on our journey by experiencing one of our performances, watching us online and supporting us.
